Ireland’s full support to the UN mandate in Cyprus and efforts to reinforce trade relations between Ireland and Cyprus were the main points stressed by Martin Heydon, Minister of State for Research and Development, Farm Safety and New Market Development of Ireland, in his interview to CNA on 14 March in Nicosia.
Heydon visited Cyprus as part of Irish Ministers travelling worldwide to spread the message of St Patrick’s Day: “Mindful of the very difficult international circumstances, we do this very much in solidarity, sending a message of the importance of the unity in the European Union which ourselves and Cyprus share. It’s an opportunity for us to mark the role of Irish people around the world and it is a great honour for me to be here representing the Irish government”, he said.
