Cyprus Tourism Organisation happy with record tourism record

Cyprus Tourism Organization (CTO) has expressed its satisfaction over the increase of tourist revenues in June 2017, according to data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service.

A press release by CTO says that the June 2017 revenues from tourist arrivals reached € 347.2 million, recording a remarkable increase of 15.3% compared to June 2016.

Regarding the cumulative total revenue for the first half of the year, CTO says that Cyprus has approached the one-billion record (€ 996.4 million tourists) , recording a significant increase of 19.9% ​​compared to previous year.

According to CTO, the average travel expenditures from nearly all markets for the period January - June have increased, either due to increased daily expenses or due to an increase in the length of stay of the tourists or both.

CTO points out that according to the Statistical data, there has been an increase of 12.5% ​​in the expenses of Russian tourists (6.9% in daily expenditure and 5.2% in average length of stay), an increase of 10.1% in the expenses of German travelers (an increase of 3.4% % In daily spending and 6.4% in average length of stay) and an increase of 31.0% in Israeli tourists` expenses (despite a 2.3% decrease in daily spending, there was an increase of 34.1% in Staying).

There was a slight decrease of 2,8% in the expenses of tourists from the United Kingdom due to the decrease of 3.7% in the average length of their stay and despite the 0.9% increase in their daily expenses.

CTO points out that based on these data, 2017 will be a milestone in Cyprus` tourism.
