Youth Makerspace inauguration by the Youth Organization

On Saturday, March 10, 2018, the Youth Organization of Cyprus celebrated the inauguration of the new Youth Makerspace program that combines technology and technology education with the aim of innovation and the encouragement of entrepreneurship.

The program is hosted in a space provided by the Larnaca Municipality, which is designed to inspire collaboration between professionals, experts and young people with little or no experience but willing to learn and create.

At the inaugural party of this innovative space, which was first created in Cyprus, there were dozens of young people, creators, deputies of the provinces of Larnaca and Famagusta. The inauguration was made by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Education Committee, Mr. Kyriakos Chatzigiannis, the Mayor of Larnaca, Mr. Andreas Byras and the President of the Youth Organization of Cyprus, Mr. Panagiotis Sedonas.

At the inauguration, the participants had the opportunity to get to know the area of ​​Youth Makerspace and see in action the specialized equipment, including 3D printers, laser cutters, drones, virtual reality, robotics, arduino, rasberry pi, and .a.

The Mayor of Larnaca, Andreas Byras, said that Youth Makerspace is "A visionary program that provides open access to tools and knowledge so that every young person can realize his ideas."

The Chairman of the Cyprus Youth Organization, Panagiotis Sedonas, stressed that "We want Youth Makerspace to be a construction site of youthful creativity based on the triptych imagination - experimentation - creation. We want through the program to give inspiration for imagining our new things new. Makerspace is part of the new program implemented by the Agency and is serving the implementation of the Youth Strategy. "
