Work will start this month to upgrade the Ayia Napa monastery, with the project set to take until May 2020 to be completed, it was announced on Tuesday.
During this time there will be no services. However, visits to the church can take place, but for security reasons it will not be possible to visit any other part of the monastery, an announcement by the Holy Metropolis of Constantia, Famagusta said.
The contract for the works was signed on February 27 by the Ayia Napa municipality and contractor Stavros Stavrou in the presence of Metropolitan Vassilios of Constantia, the owner of the monastery.
