Trendy bars in Paphos

August 17, 2017

Long gone are the days when Paphos was known solely for its downtown club and pub-dense Bar Street. From clubbing to a quiet drink with friends, today the region boasts a satisfying choice of classy, trendy and arty spots to pass an evening. If you don’t yet have a favourite, you soon will.

Technopolis20

18 Nikolaou Nikolaidis Avenue, Paphos. Phone: 7000 2420

Even before the European Culture Capital Pafos2017 launched, the Technopolis20 Culture Centre in Ktima was offering a rich programme of evening cultural events ranging from classical chamber recitals to jazz ensemble gigs.

In the summer months, the entertainment moves outdoors into the garden courtyard where the kafeneio serves a menu of coffees, wines, beers, soft drinks, homemade cakes and cheese and charcuterie platters.

Memories Cocktail Bar

12 – 13 Jason Street, Kato Paphos Phone: 26 944 743

This cosy, welcoming, no-frills bar offers genuine Cyprus hospitality, a family-friendly vibe, possibly the best Brandy Sour on the island and plenty of diffident feline company.

One of the oldest cocktail bars in Paphos, Memories is famous for just about any drink you could want expertly-made by owner and host, Andreas.

Holidaymakers have been returning year after year for decades and locals enjoy a spot “where everyone knows your name”. As well as turning out tried-and-tested favourites, Andreas will turn his hand to any drink combination you suggest.

If you like cats, you’ll enjoy the bonus of Andreas’ feline family who lounge unobtrusively around the bar and might even join in your game of snooker.

Muse Café Kitchen Bar
Mousallas, Paphos. Phone: 26 941 951

Worth dressing up for, Muse has sprawling outdoor lounge-style seating that offers not only possibly the best sunset view in Paphos but in the Eastern Mediterranean.

This chic and elegant spot is not the type that rests on the laurels of its exceptional view, though. It boasts good service and a tasty, imaginative menu of Euro-Mediterranean fusion cuisine (the salads could make the most die-hard meat eater a vegetarian).

On the drinks front, you can enjoy coffees, teas, soft drinks, local and international wines and spirits. Muse also offers an extensive cocktail menu which just means you’ll have to visit more than once in order to get through it.
