Around seven-and-a-half thousand pensioners from Austria, members of the Pensionisternverband Federation, are expected to visit Cyprus for the second consecutive year between March and May.
According to InBusinessNews, the Chairman of the CTO Board, Angelos Loizou, will hold 10 flights a week from March 27 for a period of five weeks for the arrival of the tourists on our island.
The retired Austrians will be hosted in Protaras, and on the basis of their program, they will make visits and excursions to various areas of the island.
The arrival of Austrian pensioners was made possible by coordinated efforts by the CTO, Senioren Reisen travel organizer and his representative in Cyprus, Summertimes. Under the agreement, another seven thousand pensioners from Austria visited Cyprus last year.
According to Mr. Loizou, the aim of the CTO is to increase the tourist market from Austria. It is worth noting that in 2017 about 40 thousand Austrian tourists visited Cyprus, compared to 30 thousand in 2016. In previous years, arrivals from this country ranged from 23 to 30 thousand.
Good news from the Germans
Meanwhile, the presence of the Cypriot Tourism Minister, Yorgos Laktorrypi, was positive in the recent ITB exhibition, the largest tourist exhibition in the world taking place in Berlin.
According to Mr. Loizou, he explained that Cyprus is in the hands of German tour operators, who are interested in investing tourism on our island.
Of course, the topic is to find several beds for Germans in the summer, but the German market is also offered for winter tourism, which Cyprus can offer.
Mr Loizou expressed the view that in 2018 there will be an increase of more than 10% on the German tourism market.
It is noteworthy that in 2017, around 188 thousand tourists visited Cyprus, 124 thousand in 2016, 112 thousand in 2015 and only 86 thousand in 2014. It is therefore evident the upward trend recorded every year in the arrivals of German tourists in Cyprus.
