Cyprus's prominent position in the global shipping map is reconfirmed by the United Nations report entitled "Review of Maritime Transport 2022," with the island at the top end in the relevant rankings.
The United Nations, in arriving at its findings, accounts for the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the supply chain and the turmoil created by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
According to the report, Cyprus is close to the top ten countries in the global ranking, ranking 11th in terms of ships flying the country's flag, despite a slight loss between 2021 and 2022.
