Cyprus weekend temperature set to sizzle

This weekend is expected to be hot as inland temperatures will soar above 30°C.

Speaking to the Cyprus Weekly on Wednesday, Meteorological Service official Panayiotis Lingis, said: “Temperatures have already started to climb but we expect them to actually surpass 30°C inland by Saturday”.

The usual average maximum temperatures for this time of year are around 26°C inland, 23°C-24°C on the coasts, and 17°C in the mountains.

He said the thermometer could reach up to 31°C or 32°C inland over the weekend.

High cloud cover is also anticipated from Sunday with skies anticipated to remain mainly clear until then apart from some mild dust in the air from Thursday. This light dust, Lingis said, was not anticipated to create respiratory or other problems.

Temperatures on Thursday are, according to the Service’s official forecast, predicted to rise to a maximum 29°C inland, 27°C on the north and south coasts, 26°C on the east coast, 25°C on the west coast, and 21°C in the mountains.
